The ICB Laboratory is proud to announce the appointment of Philippe Grelu to the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) as a senior member holding a fundamental chair. This prestigious distinction recognizes the scientific excellence of his work, his commitment to research, and his national and international influence in the field of nonlinear photonics and ultrafast optical systems.
A professor at the University of Burgundy Europe and a researcher in the Photonics Department at the ICB, Philippe Grelu has been conducting leading research for many years on the complex dynamics of light in fiber lasers and nonlinear optical systems. His contributions have notably led to major advances in the study of dissipative solitons, dynamic instabilities, and light self-organization phenomena.

» P. Grelu
Appointment to the Institut Universitaire de France is one of the highest distinctions awarded to university professors and researchers in France. It recognizes the exceptional quality of a scientific career and offers its recipients additional resources to develop their research activities for a period of five years.
This recognition follows the numerous distinctions received by Philippe Grelu. He was recently elected a Fellow of Optica, an international distinction recognizing his major contributions to the fields of optics and photonics.
Through this appointment, the expertise of the Photonics Department and the dynamism of the research conducted within the ICB Laboratory are also being celebrated.
The ICB extends its warmest congratulations to Philippe Grelu on this major recognition and wishes him every success in his new role at the Institut Universitaire de France.
