Actualité

ICB is participating in the 2025 Science Festival around the theme “Intelligence(s)”

From October 3 to 13, 2025, the Science Festival was held throughout France under the theme “Intelligence(s),” inviting the public to explore the many forms of intelligence—human, animal, plant, and artificial—and the questions they raise for research and society.

The Carnot Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Burgundy (ICB) participated in this year’s festival through several events organized in Dijon, Nevers, and Le Creusot.

Two lectures in Dijon and Nevers

As part of the Science Festival, two lectures were given by researchers from the ICB.

  • In Nevers, Vincent Boudon, research director at the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), presented a lecture on exoplanets at the Raoul Follereau High School.
  • In Dijon, Christophe Cruz, a professor at the University of Burgundy, addressed the evolution and prospects of generative artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on research into empathic digital agents.

Discovery workshops in Le Creusot

At Hub&God (Le Creusot), several science outreach workshops were offered. Participants were able to handle and experiment with various optical phenomena: discovering what a laser is, distinguishing laser light from white light, understanding the principle of infrared imaging, and watching demonstrations of WAAM and laser welding.
These workshops, led by members of the laboratory, generated considerable interest among the general public.
