Official launch of the i-NanoT project: an ambitious scientific collaboration serving nanomedicine

On July 1, 2025, the i-NanoT project was officially launched at the University of Burgundy Europe, in the ICB Laboratory. This first scientific meeting, bringing together all the consortium partners, marks the operational start of this collaborative research initiative focused on innovative technologies in nanomedicine.

Organized by the project coordinator, Alexandre Bouhelier (ICB), the day’s objectives were to:

  • share the strategic vision and scientific objectives of i-NanoT,
  • clarify the roles of each partner within the work packages (WPs),
  • lay the initial groundwork for administrative, technical, and financial management,
  • define the priorities for the first six months of the project.

The program was structured around presentations organized by work stream, with contributions from teams from the Institute of Molecular Chemistry at the University of Burgundy Europe, the FEMTO-ST Institute, Chrono-environnement, the Georges-François Leclerc Center, CTM, VIVEXIA, Delpharm, Right, SON SAS, SAYENS, Santenov Dijon Bourgogne, and others, as well as open discussions to strengthen coordination and a shared vision.

Beyond the scientific aspects, the project team presented the governance framework, data management and communication tools, and the mechanisms for disseminating the results. A clear initial roadmap was defined, with key actions identified.

What is i-NanoT?

This project aims to develop a complete nanomedicine sector in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, from basic research to preclinical production. More specifically, i-NanoT is developing theranostic nanovectors—nanoparticles capable of both treating and diagnosing certain targeted pathologies, particularly in oncology, infectious diseases, and inflammatory diseases.

The project addresses crucial challenges for this emerging sector:

  • reproducibility,
  • quality control,
  • scaling up production.

This project is supported by the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region and by the European Commission within the framework of the FEDER-ESF+ Bourgogne Franche-Comté and Massif du Jura 2021-2027 programme.
