The 2024 Bernard Bolle Prize, awarded by the Eastern Section of the French Society for Metallurgy and Materials (SF2M), was given to Romain Charvet for the quality of his Master’s internship completed during the 2023/2024 academic year.
The prize was awarded on July 10, 2025, in Venarey-les-Laumes, at the SINTERMAT company premises, during the Steering Committee meeting of the ANR OEDIPUS project. The prize was presented by Frédéric Bernard, in the presence of the project’s academic and industrial partners.
Romain’s Master’s research, conducted under the joint supervision of Maria-Rosa Ardigo-Besnard (ICB Laboratory) and Aurélien Besnard (LaBoMaP), focused on the development of barrier layers against carbon diffusion during the Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process. This particularly innovative research topic is now the central theme of his doctoral thesis, which is also funded by the ANR OEDIPUS project.
This prize, awarded annually to the best Master’s internship in the region, highlights the excellence of research training and recognizes the work carried out by young researchers in the field of materials.
The ICB Laboratory extends its warmest congratulations to Romain Charvet and wishes him every success in his doctoral studies.
