SMARTLIGHT Platform

Key equipment for research in photonics and artificial intelligence

The SMARTLIGHT platform, awarded the EquipEx+ label in 2021 and a member of the PEPR LUMA Hub Platform from 2025, is dedicated to the study of light-matter interactions, with a focus on ultrashort phenomena and micro/nanostructured materials. Associated with the ICB Laboratory (UBE, Dijon) and the FEMTO-ST Institute (UMLP, Besançon), it develops innovative photonic technologies by integrating artificial intelligence and light science.

SMARTLIGHT supports high-value-added projects with a low energy footprint, offers high-level training, and provides highly specialized services.

Its resources, funded by France 2030, are divided into four technological hubs equipped with unique instruments:

1. Optoelectronics: signal preparation and characterization up to 100 GHz.

2. Multimodal Microscopy: ten optical microscopy stations, far- and near-field.

3. 3D Optics: fabrication of fiber-based and photonic components, including a 3D printer using nanometric glass.

4. Ultrafast Lasers: fifteen femtosecond lasers for micro-nanostructuring and spatiotemporal analysis.
