E. Hertz a effectué sa thèse au laboratoire de Physique de l’Université de Bourgogne sur une thématique liée au domaine du contrôle cohérent par laser. Il a ensuite effectué un séjour de deux ans en stage postdoctoral au FORTH à Héraklion (Grèce) où les travaux de recherche entrepris relevaient d’une double thématique : contrôle optimal expérimental et caractérisation d’impulsions attosecondes. Il a été recruté en 2002 dans l’équipe Processus Femtosecondes et Laser intenses du département Photonique de l’ICB où il explore différentes thématiques de recherches centré autour des interactions laser-matière en régime d’impulsions ultracourtes (femtosecondes) intense.
