Nonlinear Waves / Fiber & Mid-Infrared Optics
Bertrand Kibler received Master and PhD degrees from the University of Franche-Comté in 2003 and 2007 respectively. Between 2007 and 2009, he carried out post-doctoral research at the University of Bourgogne. In october 2009, he was appointed CNRS researcher at the Laboratoire ICB (UMR6303, Dijon). He is a recipient of the CNRS Bronze medal in 2012, for research activities in optics linked to hydrodynamics, in particular the first observation of the Peregrine soliton (rogue breather). He obtained accreditation to supervise research (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, HDR) from University Bourgogne Franche-Comté in 2020. He was also awarded the Fabry – de Gramont prize of the French Optical Society (SFO), for his significant contributions to the study of breather waves and their interactions. In 2022, he was appointed CNRS Research Director.
